Our Coffee — Roasted in Melbourne
More than a coffee school, we are a Melbourne coffee roastery focused on freshness, consistency, and flavour.
From the beans used in our training space to coffee support for cafés and hospitality venues, our approach is built around helping people serve better coffee with confidence.
Great coffee training starts with great coffee — and so does every strong coffee program.
Roasting our own coffee gives us greater control over flavour, freshness, and consistency in every cup. For students, that means learning on coffee that responds clearly to changes in grind, dose, yield, and milk. For cafés and hospitality venues, it means access to coffee shaped by practical barista knowledge and real service experience.
- Freshly roasted coffee with clarity, aroma, and balance.
- Profiles built for consistency in both training and service.
- A practical roasting approach guided by flavour and usability.

Why roasting matters
Our coffee is designed to support better learning, better extraction, and better results in the cup. That makes a difference whether you are training as a barista or building a coffee offering for your venue.
Clarity in the Cup
Taste the real impact of grind size, dose, ratio, and milk texture without unnecessary noise from unstable coffee.
Consistency You Can Build On
Consistent roasting helps students repeat better extractions and gives cafés a stronger foundation for service quality.
Coffee Knowledge with Depth
Understanding coffee from roasting to espresso preparation gives both baristas and businesses a more complete coffee perspective.
Coffee we roast
Our coffees are selected and roasted with flavour, balance, and purpose in mind — whether for training, espresso service, or cafés wanting to explore a more refined coffee identity.

Your I Am Barista drip bag contains 12g of freshly ground coffee. Choose whether you have a coffee scale. We’ll then show you how to prepare your drip bag and brew your coffee, step by step.
First, prepare your drip bag
Open the outer packet
Find the small opening notch or marked tear point on the outer packet. Tear carefully to open it and take out the drip bag.
Open the filter and attach it to your cup
Look for the marked tear line across the top of the inner drip filter and carefully tear it open. Next, unfold the two paper support arms on the sides. Place the filter inside the opening of your cup, with one paper arm hooked over each side of the rim. The coffee grounds stay inside the filter, and the water will drip into your cup underneath.
Check the picture below to see exactly how the drip bag should sit before you add water.
Set up your scale
Place the cup with the drip bag on your scale and tare it to zero. Heat water to around 90°C (not boiling).
First pour: 50g
Start your timer and gently pour 50g of water over the coffee, wetting all the grounds. Wait 30 seconds to let the coffee bloom.
Three more pours: 45g each
At 0:30, pour 45g more (scale reads 95g). At 1:00, add 45g (140g total). At 1:30, add the final 45g (185g total). Pour gently and avoid overflowing the filter.
Let it finish dripping
Aim for a total brewing time of approximately 2 to 2 minutes 30 seconds. When dripping finishes, lift out the filter carefully, let it cool before disposing of it, and enjoy your coffee.
Prepare your hot water
Heat water to approximately 90°C, rather than using it at a rolling boil. Place your cup on a stable surface.
First pour: fill to the top
Slowly add hot water until it reaches near the top of the open drip bag, without overflowing. Let the water drain through the coffee before pouring again.
Repeat three more times
Fill the bag near the top, let it drip down, and repeat until you have completed four pours in total. This should produce roughly 185g of water, although the amount will vary with how full you pour and the size of the bag.
Enjoy your coffee
Allow the final pour to drip through completely. Carefully remove the hot filter and enjoy. No special equipment needed!
A little tip: pour slowly and steadily. Coffee tastes better when it comes with a memory. 💜
Thank you!
For choosing I Am Barista 💜
We hope every cup brings you a beautiful moment.FAQ
